Local Area
This gîte business and estate is
in the ‘heart’ of the Dordogne region and is only minutes
from the Chateaux-lined Dordogne River and close to the beautiful
honey-coloured tourist towns of Bergerac,
Beynac,
Cadouin, Domme, Monpazier,
La Roque Gageac, Le Bugue,
Les Eyzies
& Sarlat.
Even though the estate is surrounded by many
beautiful famous towns and villages, if you venture off the
beaten track you can still find sleepy French villages that are
equally as beautiful but as yet undiscovered, as this region of the
Dordogne offers some of the most romantic scenery in Europe, where
you can loose yourself amongst country lanes, secret hamlets,
forgotten churches and countless rivers.

Every day of the week you can find a local market in one of the villages,
the most famous being Sarlat on a Saturday.
There are 2 golf courses within 10 minutes of the estate, a number
of horse riding stables and fishing lakes. You will also find
yoga classes, dances classes, a gym, tennis clubs, art
classes, bridge clubs, an English library, cinema, lots of French classes and of course plenty of
good restaurants.
During the summer most villages and towns have
festivals, outdoor concerts and night markets then throughout the
year there are the antique markets.
The shallow Dordogne river is spectacular with it's
many Chateaux along it's route, as well as canoeing on the river,
there are sandy beaches and safe swimming areas.
This region of France
has a rich history and 20 minutes away are the famous caves of Les Eyzies,
and Lascaux is about 90 minutes away.
The Vineyards of Bergerac, the local wine growing region,
is only 40 minutes away and Saint-Emilion which is
renowned around the world is about 90 minutes away.
Local tourist attractions include
Château de Hautefort, Château des Milandes

Castlenaud (most
visited châteaux in south west France) and

is only 5 minutes away and it has a bakery, butcher, Post Office,
